While in Vientiane, Laos in 2013, this random bike caught my eye out the front of a Chinese white-goods market that also randomly sells old bikes. As a sucker for old rusty machinery I couldn’t help but investigate….
Turned out to be a ‘Verhovina 6 LMZ-2 159’ in absolutely knackered condition. I sat on it and had both the front forks and rear shocks collapsing under me. I love the details on the old rusty girl, such as ‘MADE IN USSR’ stamped on the tyres, the funky emblems (castle with a tyre through the middle and the rearing lion on the front fender) and the neat faired speedo ‘MADE IN CCCP’ . I wonder how it made it to Laos? Was it a Russian advisers run about during the ‘American War’? Who knows… enjoy the pics.
